STEM Education Scenarios with Mobile and Pervasive Computing and Internet of Things Technologies

In this study, the IoT and its main applications are described, and three educational scenarios for the “smart school” are analyzed to familiarize Secondary Education students with it. For the implementation of the scenarios, the (economic and open software) Arduino microcomputer platform and the appropriate sensors for each application were used. Note that the three scenarios are of increasing complexity.

The studies are towards the strategic creation of a dedicated Research Centre of Excellence for Eastern Mediterranean Middle East Climate & Atmosphere (CARE-C) with high-level research collaborations with the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (MPIC) in Mainz, Germany, the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in France, and the University of Helsinki (UHEL) in Finland.
